About

Dr. Abdul Wahhab: A Beacon of the Community

Dr. Abdul Wahhab is a remarkable individual whose life is a testament to resilience, kindness, and dedication. Born in July 1939 in the small village of Kureji, District Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, India, he rose from humble beginnings to achieve extraordinary success. After completing his early education in UP, he graduated in botany, zoology, and human physiology from the University of Calcutta, located in West Bengal's historic capital city. Following his family’s move to Pakistan, Dr. Wahhab pursued an M.B.B.S degree from Nishtar Medical College in Multan, Pakistan, graduating in 1964. He entered into marriage with Zarina Wahhab without even meeting her beforehand, forming a partnership that would bless them with three accomplished daughters. In 1967, after passing the ECFMG (Examination of Foreign Medical Graduates), Dr. Wahhab embarked on a new chapter of his life in the United States. In January 1968, he arrived in Albany, NY, and completed a one-year internship at Memorial Hospital in Albany. He then pursued a four-year surgical residency at New Rochelle Hospital and Medical Center in New Rochelle, New York. Wahhab's professional journey spanned over four decades in New York and Pottsville, Pennsylvania, where he served as a medical surgeon from 1972 to 2019. During this time, he treated over 10,000 patients, earning widespread respect and admiration for his compassionate care and dedication to his craft. Beyond his medical career, Dr. Wahhab is an artist at heart. Inspired by nature and Arabic calligraphy, he cultivated a passion for art that became a source of inspiration for children, youth, and professionals alike. Over the past 35 years, he has used his all artwork as a means of giving back to the community, including organizing art auctions to support 9/11 memorials, individuals, institutions, educations and other charitable causes. As a neighbor and admirer, I nd it impossible to capture the full essence of Dr. Wahhab's contributions in just a few words—it would take a book to do his legacy justice. It is my honor to know and serve alongside Dr. Wahhab, a true beacon of our community. We are proud to announce his upcoming 7th Art Auction in the Capital District of NY soon. All proceeds will go toward supporting people in need and various institutions, continuing Dr. Wahhab's incredible legacy of service and generosity. It's our privilege, God gives us a chance to show his artwork to the youth, adults, parents and community on how hobbies can contribute to peoples and institutions in need besides our professional career.
